- March 2025: The is is seeking summer instructors. CTY offers challenging programs for academically advanced elementary, middle, and high school students. You'll work at residential colleges on the East and West coasts or commuter day sites in Los Angeles, Baltimore, and New York. .
- January 2025: The CNSM Safety Office is hiring an undergrad or grad student assistant. Hours are flexible and you will gain experience in lab safety. No prior experience required but it will help to have some science courses within our college. They provide all training. Federal work study is also desirable but not required. - May 2024: Our Math/Stat Department is hiring Teaching Associates and Instructional Student Assistants for Fall 24, especially in Statistics. You will assist a faculty supervisor in teaching a 100-level math or stat class, either leading your own activity sections, providing support such as grading, or serving students in our computer lab. You get $30.08/hour and up as a TA or $20/hour and up as an ISA, including paid preparation and office hour time. Other benefits include office space in the department and the opportunity to check out hardware (iPads, laptops) to support your teaching needs. Apply by June 3.
- May 2024: The campus Career Development Center - Career Events has many job events for grads, and you have free access for a year after your graduation.

- April 2024: CNSM is hiring Peer Mentors and Tutors at the Lindgren Math Tutoring Center and the Jensen SAS Center. You will also mentor CNSM freshmen and assist with various CNSM activities. Apply by May 7.
- April 2024: is a career development startup that hosts data and technology competitions; they have a program for aspiring cybersecurity and IT professionals in partnership with the Department of Defense. It includes an online skills competition and career support for jobs at the DoD.

- The SURE program pairs students one-on-one with scientists for specialized research at the scientist's institution or field site.
- The SOURCES program is a remote, mentored research experience where you gain experience regardless of geographic location or availability of local researchers.
- April 2024: The is recruiting for Spring 25 in Public Health, Biology, Epidemiology, Data and Informatics, Information Technologies, Communications, Health Education, and other supporting fields. The internships run February 4 - May 16 and pay $17-20/hour. Apply by October 14.
- April 2024: The is recruiting for Fall 24 in data, IT, and informatics. The internships run September 4 - December 13 and pay $17-20/hour. Apply by April 22.
- April 2024: College Corps is recruiting CNSM majors for 2024-25. They offer internships with nonprofits focused on Environmental/social justice and sustainability, Food insecurity, and K-12 education. You take an internship course and earn $10,000 for 450 hours of work. Low-income students and those who are first in their families to go to college receive priority consideration. AB540 students are encouraged. Apply by April 23.
Scholarships
- February 2025: The supports Hispanic/Latinx students in careers in the mathematical sciences; including, but not limited to, scientific research, math ed, engineering, and finance. They award 2-3 scholarships of up to $500 to prospective and current undergrads/grads. The deadline is February 28.
- October 2024: The Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant offers large scholarships to students who commit to teaching in a high-need area, including math.
- May 2024: The Sally Casanova scholars receive a $5,000 stipend that allows them to explore PhD programs and prepare to succeed in them. It can fund campus visits, research activities, and standardized test prep. You are invited to the Sally Casanova Summer Gathering to learn about the program and meet Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà scholars. Summer Opportunities

- February 2025: is an NSF and NSA-sponsored summer research and professional development program at North Carolina State. You must be an undergrad and a US citizen or permanent resident. You'll work on real-life problems using math and/or stats, build your computing and communication skills, and learn about STEM career opportunities. It pays $7,000 plus housing, travel, and conference funding. It runs ten weeks, May 27-July 30. Apply by February 15.
- January 2025: UCSD invites you to their July 21-26, 2025. One of the lead instructors is Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ's Professor Lihan Wang. Qualified participants may receive free housing and meals.
- January 2025: is research-intensive, in-person, 10-week program to preview the PhD experience, June 2-August 4, 2025. You get $5,000, housing, and mentorship. Apply by February 28, 2025. Questions to Elda Padilla: GradDIA@usc.edu
- January 2025: The University of Chicago's is hosting a fully funded , June 16-August 8, 2025. You will prepare for grad school through lectures and problem sessions taught by experienced researchers from the University of Chicago. It will cover linear algebra, metric spaces, advanced calculus, and probability. Open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Applications due February 14, 2025.
- January 2025: The NSF-funded at Cal Poly Pomona is a 10-week REU on computation in areas such as optimization, graph theory, Gaussian processes, and spectral analysis. You get $7000, housing, food, and travel to conferences. You must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident and completed Calc 3. Programming experience preferred but not necessary. Apply by February 15.
- January 2025: The is a four-week, residential session for women and nonbinary mathematicians preparing for PhD programs. You'll do coursework for graduate research and qualification exams, while gaining practical experience and a personal and professional network. You're invited to an EDGE Alumni Panel on January 13 at 6pm to learn about the EDGE and grad school. Applicants should be women or gender nonconforming individuals applying to PhDs for Fall 2025. - January 2025: The in Berkeley, June 14-July 26, targets underrepresented groups, but all students are eligible, including DACA. Students with DACA status can also be considered for funding. You get $3500 plus lodging, meals, research experience, professional development, and travel support to Berkeley and national conferences. The 2025 focus is on application of techniques from pure math, applied math, data science, and computer science to issues of social injustice. Apply by Feb. 15, 2025.

They aim to widen participation of African Americans in obtaining PhDs in the math. You get funding for travel, lodging, meals, incidentals. - October 2024: (Student Program for Army Research and Knowledge) offers U.S. undergrads research at an Army laboratory in Summer 2025, mentored by the government scientists and engineers who will guide them in Army mission related research projects including data analysis and systems modeling. You will be assigned a project, mentor, and tasks to lead to publishable results. You get travel, housing, and $1,000 per week. Applications due January 12.
- April 2024: The Department of Energy is offering 30 scholarships for a Summer Online course, CSCI 420 Applied Quantum Computing for Computer Scientists at Chico State, June 3-25 and again July 22-August 13, MTWR 8:00-11:25am. - March 2025: The deadline to submit an abstract for a poster presentation at the has been extended to March 31. Students are encouraged to present a poster! The deadline for giving a talk has passed, but to make a submission for the poster session please email hpb@ams.org with the following information: authors' names, email addresses, and affiliations; specific MSC code ("General" will be used as default), title, and abstract.
- March 2025: The MAA SoCal-Nev Spring 2025 Section Meeting will be at Pepperdine University on Saturday, 3/29. They are still working on the website, but you can submit an abstract for the student poster session by March 17. All levels of students are accepted, and two presenters for each poster will get free registration and lunch.
- March 2025: The for grad students is 12-13 April at UC Riverside. It will feature talks around surfaces in geometry, topology, and dynamics; and lightning talks by participants; a panel on navigating challenges in academia; and small group meetings in advance to support these activities. Apply by March 1.

- October 2024: (Symposium for Women and Gender Minorities in Mathematics in Southern California) is at Cal State Fullerton on February 8, 2024. It's free and meals will be provided but participants are asked to register by January 10.
- July 2024: The GROW conference is September 27-29, 2023 at Columbia University. GROW supports undergrads considering grad school in mathematical sciences and helps build a profession in which gender identity is not a barrier to participation. Students of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, races, nationalities and religions are encouraged to apply. Apply by August 15.
- May 2024: The workshop is October 3-4, 2024 at Argonne National Laboratory and sponsored by . Undergrads will learn about research in math and stats being done at Argonne and connections with real world applications. It is also open to faculty to accompany a group of students. Apply by June 28.
